Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
The Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) is the most widely respected English language teaching qualification in the world.
It is administered by Cambridge University to initiate people into the field of teaching, or to upskill those already working in it. It is the most widely recognised qualification of its kind with over 12,000 people completing it each year at over 300 approved centres world-wide and is mainly concerned with the practical ‘how’ of teaching.
Why do CELTA?
The CELTA suits a variety of people of any age. You may be wanting a means of supporting yourself as you travel your way around the world, or you may be looking at a change of career.
What do I need?
- Motivation and Commitment
This is a very intensive training course that will take you out of your normal life for four weeks (unless you take the part-time option). You will need to be focused and organised.
You need to be either a native speaker of English or have a very high level of proficiency (C1 on the CEF / IELTS 7.5)
A degree in any background is normally expected, however high school qualifications may be acceptable at the discretion of the centre.
Candidates need to be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment.
