Teaching Knowledge Course
This introductory methodology course will introduce new and experienced teachers to the current best practice in teaching methodology by following the Cambridge University TKT syllabus which is a recognized benchmark of quality. This course can be taken for the following purposes:
The TKC is modular and flexible. The full course is 23.5 hours, with each module of 90 minutes covering all the basics of good teaching practice. You can also adapt the TKC to suit your own teaching requirements by choosing the modules you would like to study.

The minimum requirement is 6 modules (including the compulsory Module 0 – Background to Language Teaching).

Why do the TKC?
The TKC will improve your confidence as a teacher and give you the knowledge and skills to help you develop your career. It helps you to keep your teaching skills up to date.
At the end of this course you can opt to sit for the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT). If you are already teaching, the TKT is a formal recognition of your experience. This is a highly-respected internationally-recognised award by Cambridge English Language Assessment, part of the University of Cambridge.
*Passing the TKC does not automatically qualify you for the CELTA
What do I need?
- English Level
You do not need to have a certain level of English to take the TKC. However, it is advisable for candidates to have a minimum language level of Level B1 CEFR (Council of Europe Framework).
You can take the TKC whatever your background and teaching experience. A degree in any background is normally expected, however high school qualifications may be acceptable at the discretion of the centre.
Candidates need to be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment.
